All of the horses at Ohio County Equestrian are geldings.
Stallions are not allowed due to temperament and mares tend
cause unruly behavior even among the geldings. Most of our
mounts are donated animals, each of whom is carefully
screened before it's accepted. This helps to ensure
that they
will provide a suitable mount for our riders. Each animal
has its own story, personality, and favorite riders.
Donated by UTTA (United
Thoroughbred Trainers of America) President William H.
Fires, Sleepy is a retired polo
pony who's become a favorite amongst our
riders.
The little red miniature
named Redd Foxx is treated like a breathing stuffed animal by
many of the younger riders. He's being
trained to pull a cart specially
designed for our riders. Redd was donated by the Bluegrass
Miniature Horse Club, Inc.
